I was born in Farmington, Minnesota in 1957. Growing up, our family of eight moved around a lot and by the time I’d graduated high school, we’d had six homes in three different states. Some of my fondest memories are from Colorado Springs; of building forts in Hidden Valley and climbing to the top of Rattle Snake Hill to play war or just rummage through the garbage we found there.
From forth grade through the end of college, I played trumpet and was heavily involved with musica love that came from my father and his pre-family life as a professional Big Band musician. After two years in college I landed a job as a recording engineer at a small, 4-track recording studio in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
It was in St. Cloud in 1978 that I met my wife to be, Brenda. A year later we were married and a year after that we had our first and only child, Melissa.
Today, I work as a freelance writer, web designer, system support engineer and consultant. Melissa has graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts and, after spending some time in New York city, has married and is expecting her first child.
Brenda passionately enjoys photography and almost any kind of crafts. She contributes a lot, not only in terms of imaginative input and support, but to the overall creative atmosphere that permeates throughout the Nason household.
In 1981, we moved to Nashville and I landed a job at a local copier dealershipjust to make ends meet. Well the rest, as they say, is history and for the next twenty-two years I worked for that same company. My first job was as a Field Service Technician and from 1981 to 1997 I did just about every job you could do in the Service Department, including taking over as Vice President of Service in 1992.
In 1997, with massive corporate downsizing and restructuring underfoot I moved into Network Support and began the process of shoring up my education. I became a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and a Novell Certified Network Administrator. I worked as a High Volume System Analyst, an Imaging Support Engineer and as an Office Document Specialist.
Eventually, in the winter of 2003, the corporate direction had deviated so completely from my own (taking care of the customer) that I was forced to make the hardest decision of my life leave that company.
In 1981, we moved to Nashville and I immediately setup shop in the bedroom, turning it into a home-made recording studio complete with a Sony 2-track tape deck.
In 1984, we bought our first home and I immediately set about remodeling the basement into a recording/ practice studio. Over the years, it was a 4-track, then an 8 and eventually a 16 track. Today all the tape machines lay dormant and I use the computer for just about everything.
Marie and I met in the early 90's and shortly thereafter, began writing. It was almost like we couldn't do anything else. It just came out like it was under pressure and had to be released. We wrote one novel-length manuscript (Halcyon) then another (Traces). To date, we've finished two and started about three others.
Somewhere in there, I found the time to do a couple no-budget indie films as well. (whatever)
